About the Role

Working out of both Barnsley and Sheffield offices, we provide traditional accounting and tax services and seek an aspiring, motivated and enthusiastic accounts apprentice. You must have a developing interest in the accounting profession working within a busy professional office environment.

Reporting to the Management Accountant

Summary of Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • You will develop accountancy skills in double-entry bookkeeping and basic costs, as well as an understanding of purchase, sales and general ledgers
  • Learn to use accounting software and to develop the professional skills and behaviours needed to contribute effectively in the workplace

College supported skills areas in the first year will be:

  • Bookkeeping Transactions
  • Bookkeeping Controls
  • Elements of Costing
  • Using Accounting Software

Developing skills with in-house training and college support within the areas of bespoke tax planning, asset protection, tax investigation resolution and specialist accountancy.

Miscellaneous:

  • A full-time role includes training on the AAT with study time required at work, at home and at college

Standards of Performance:

  • Ensure a tidy work environment is maintained
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Organise workload to meet deadlines
  • Meet the training deadlines of the apprenticeship training
  • The possibility of a full-time role

About the Training

  • Accounts Finance Assistant Apprenticeship
  • Functional Skills in maths and English, if required 
  • Additional qualifications: AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting
  • Assessment
  • Synoptic test and portfolio with reflective discussion at the end of the programme
