About the Role
<p>An opportunity has arisen within our Transport section for an Apprentice Auto- Electrical Vehicle Maintenance Technician, based at our Workshop in Rotherham.</p> <p>The successful candidate will work with qualified skilled Motor Vehicle Technicians during their training and will work towards achieving NVQ level three in Vehicle Engineering.</p>
- Carry out to a high standard preventative maintenance and electrical installation on South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue vehicles, plant and equipment
- Diagnosis and repair of faults on South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue vehicles, plant or equipment using manufacturers in house electronic diagnostic equipment
- Work towards developing knowledge of water pumps (fire pumps) and other service-related equipment
- Where necessary attend defected vehicles at the vehicle base
- Complete all documentation as required by management, in conjunction with repairs or maintenance carried out on South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue vehicles, plant or equipment
- Attend training courses, both technical and personal development either in-house or at manufacturers’ premises occasionally requiring overnight stay
To be considered for this role you must be: A highly motivated individual Committed to working as a team to achieve objectives Minimum 16 years old Demonstrate a passion for the motor vehicle industry Hold a full driving licence or willing to work towards this during the apprenticeship period. Able to meet minimum Qualifications in Maths and English (see below): English GCSE Grade 4/C, Level 2 Functional Skills, or equivalent Mathematics GCSE Grade 4/C, Level 2 Functional Skills, or equivalent.
Employment beyond the 3-year apprenticeship cannot be guaranteed.
About the Training
Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician - light vehicle Level 3.
On-the-Job training to take place in our workshops: South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Workshop, Eastwood Trading Estate, Fitzwilliam Road, Rotherham, S65 1ST.
Off-the-job training will take place at GTA Doncaster, one day per week.
