Apprentice Vehicle Maintenance Technician

An opportunity has arisen within our Transport section for an Apprentice Vehicle Technician, based at our Workshop in Rotherham. The successful candidate will work with qualified skilled Motor Vehicle Technicians during their training and will work towards achieving NVQ level three in Vehicle Engineering.

• Whilst undertaking a college course as part of this apprenticeship, you will undertake the below tasks with appropriate supervision: 
• Carry out to a high standard preventative maintenance and servicing on South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue vehicles, plant and equipment. 
• Diagnosis and repair of faults on South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue vehicles, plant or equipment using manufacturers in house electronic diagnostic equipment. 
• Work towards developing knowledge of water pumps (fire pumps) and other service-related equipment.
• Where necessary attend defected vehicles at the vehicle base. 
• Complete all documentation as required by management, in conjunction with repairs or maintenance carried out on South Yorkshire.
• Fire and Rescue vehicles, plant or equipment 
  Attend training courses, both technical and personal development either in-house or at manufacturers’ premises occasionally requiring overnight stay.

On-the-Job training to take place in our workshops: South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Workshop, Eastwood Trading Estate, Fitzwilliam Road, Rotherham, S65 1ST.

Off-the-job training will take place at GTA Doncaster, one day per week.
