About the Role

AESSEAL plc are looking for a CAM/CNC machinist apprentice to complete a Level 3 Machining Technician apprenticeship. The successful candidate will generate and verify CNC programs for the various machine tools within AESSEAL using NX CAM software, eventually moving onto shifts after a period of training and development.

Role and responsibilities:

  • To generate CNC programs using Siemens NX to run on AESSEAL machine tools
  • Verify CAM generated programs using Vericut Software
  • Work on tool, method and production standards
  • Regular liaison with workshops
  • Regular liaison with Design
  • Review and save proven programs onto Teamcenter
  • Collaborate with workshop personnel/managers on new machine methods
  • Work shifts (to be discussed/agreed)

Completion of the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre apprenticeships are nationally recognised qualifications which are acknowledged and respected by employers across the world. These can open the door to many more opportunities, such as Engineering Management and Project Engineering positions across a range of sectors worldwide.

About the Training

You will study on a Level 3 Machining Technician Standard. On completion of this, you will gain a qualification in Engineering at Advanced Level 3:

EAL L3 Extended diploma in Machining (Development Knowledge)

During the first year of the apprenticeship, your learning will take place at the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre based at Catcliffe, Rotherham, for an initial block of study on a full-time basis. After this, you will attend the Training Centre for one day a week for knowledge study.
